The Computer Science and Engineering Department was established in the year 2000 at Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College. Our department students and faculty have contributed immensely to conducting prestigious workshops, seminars, and conferences like the International Conference on Network Security and Blockchain Technology (ICNSBT) and COMSYS to name a few. We aim to instill in our students a growth mindset and make sure that they become capable enough to pursue their passion without hindrances with the help of our experienced faculties and a moderated syllabus with elective advanced courses like ML, AI, Artificial Neural Network and Deep Learning, Cyber Security, Blockchain Technology, GIS & Remote Sensing, IoT, etc. We also offer to our students the scope of research work under the guidance of our faculty members in the area of Artificial intelligence, Network Security, Blockchain Technology etc. Our students have made us proud by winning national hackathons, getting selected for prestigious INAE student fellowships for 3 consecutive years in 2021, 2022, and 2023, securing the highest GATE score of AIR 4 in the year 2020, publishing research papers, and contributing to the welfare of their society at large through their innovation and expertise. Our students grabbing 90+ offers with the highest package of 44 LPA in the batch of 2018–22 and 63.5 LPA as the highest package in the batch of 2019–23 is a testament to our perseverance and efforts. Our students in the 2024 and 2025 batches have also secured coveted internships at big MNCs, namely Amazon, Microsoft, and Atlassian. Apart from industry placements in top-notch companies, we also made sure our students aiming for higher studies got enrolled in the premier institutes in India as well as abroad.
